China Travel Checklist Generator

Create a practical preparation checklist for foreign visitors to China, covering payment, documents, mobile internet, maps, transport, hotel check-in and first-day arrival tasks.

What Foreign Visitors Often Miss Before Traveling to China

Many first-time visitors book flights and hotels early, but forget mobile internet, payment setup, map navigation, Chinese hotel addresses and real-name train travel details. Solving these after arrival can waste the first day.

Visa, transit and entry rules may change. Always verify with China National Immigration Administration, the relevant embassy or consulate, and your airline.

Recommended Preparation Order

  1. Check passport validity, visa or transit eligibility, and save official or airline confirmation pages.
  2. Prepare at least two payment methods: Alipay or WeChat Pay, international bank card and some cash.
  3. Install map, translation, ride-hailing and hotel apps, and screenshot your hotel address in Chinese.
  4. For high-speed rail, make sure your name spelling and passport number match the ticket booking.

FAQ

Should I Carry Cash?

Carry a small amount of RMB cash as backup. Mobile payments are common in major cities, but cash helps with small shops, deposits, network problems or card-linking issues.

Is Google Maps Enough in China?

Prepare a local China map app as well. Hotels, malls, metro exits and small businesses are often more complete in local map apps.
